Hariyali Chicken is a popular Punjabi chicken recipe. Grinding the fresh coriander leaves, mint leaves, and green chiles and Marinating them with chicken will give a flawless aroma to the recipe. Marinating the chicken with fresh herbs and spices for a long time is the secret to making perfect Haryali Chicken / Green chicken. Easy peasy recipe to make and can serve with roti nan, plain rice, pulao, and dosa.
Without delay, I will share with you all, how to make the Hariyali chicken recipe!!
Hariyali Chicken
Ingredients
- 1/2 Kg Chicken pieces with bone
- 1/2 cup Corriander leaves
- 1/2 cup Mint leaves
- 6 nos green chili ( add or reduce to your spice level)
- 10 nos small onions
- 1/2 cup curry leaves
- 1 tbsp Ginger – Garlic paste
- 2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp gram masala
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1/2 cup Curd
- salt to taste
Instructions
- First, clean the chicken twice with water. then, marinate it with Ginger Garlic paste, turmeric powder, curd, and salt to taste for about 30 minutes.
- In the blender, add coriander leaves, mint leaves, curry leaves, small onions, green chilies, and cashews, Grind well into a smooth Green paste by adding little water.
- Add the green paste to the marinated chicken. Mix well and marinate it again for about 30 min to 1 hour.
- Heat a pan, and add 2 tbsp of cooking oil. once the oil gets heated up, add the marinated chicken pieces. mix and cook well for 5 min on high flame. Then, cook again for 10 min on medium flame.
- Add coriander powder, cumin powder, Garam masala, pepper powder, and salt to taste. mix well. cover with lid and cook for 5 min on low flame
- Once the oil comes out, turn off the flame and serve it with roti, pulao, and biriyani. yummy, flavourful Hariyali chicken is ready !!!
Step by step pictorial method to make Hariyali Chicken :

Step 2: In the blender, add coriander leaves, mint leaves, curry leaves, small onions, green chilies, and cashews, Grind well into a smooth Green paste by adding little water.
Step 3: Add the green paste to the marinated chicken. Mix well and marinate it again for about 1 hour.
Step 4: Heat a pan, and add 2 tbsp of cooking oil. Once the oil gets heated up, add the marinated chicken pieces. mix and cook well for 5 min on high flame. Then, cook again for 10 min on medium flame.
Add coriander powder, cumin powder, Garam masala, pepper powder, and salt to taste. mix well. cover with a lid and cook for 5 min on low flame
Step 6: Once the oil comes out, turn off the flame and serve it with roti, pulao, and biriyani. Yummy, flavourful Hariyali chicken is ready !!!
